                          - This first unit will focus on classroom procedures, lab safety, study skills, reading/writing like a scientist.  Students will learn to observe and describe in their first lab.

We are currently working on "Populations and Ecosystems"  please scroll down and click on button.

Important Dates

6:30 pm - Boys Varsity Soccer @Home

The hydrosphere unit brings the water cycle to North Carolina.  Student learn about the water basins in our state and how runoff brings pollution to our rivers and streams.  They will follow the water flow to the coast and eventually to the open ocean.  Students will learn about estuaries and the nutrients making estuaries teeming with life.

Our class will also explore water quality and the factors effecting water quality.  In lab, we will predict the safety and potability of water supplies based on biological factors, including: temperature, dissolved oxygen, pH, nitrates and phosphates, turbidity and bio-indicators.

Students will become familiar with the periodic table.

Students will investigate bacteria, viruses, and protist; in this unit about disease.
